Why We Built Sweep
We believe everyone should feel confident exploring the outdoors.
Too often, uncertainty keeps people from getting outside. Losing your bearings, navigating unfamiliar trails, or worrying about cell service can turn an exciting adventure into a stressful one.
That's why we built Sweep. By combining official park maps with real-time GPS and offline navigation, we help you explore with confidence, whether you're visiting a national park, discovering a local trail, or returning to a favorite state park.
What began as Outdoor Explorer: TX (OUTX), focused on Texas State Parks, has grown into Sweep, helping people explore parks across the country.
Our mission is to help more people get outside with confidence, creating healthier lives, stronger communities, and a deeper connection to the outdoors.
Who builds it
Lauren
Founder
Lauren has always loved spending time outdoors, but she also experienced how easy it is to lose confidence when navigating unfamiliar trails. After working on technology that placed users on illustrated festival maps, she recognized an opportunity to bring official park maps into a modern mobile experience. That idea became Outdoor Explorer TX (OUTX), now Sweep.
Today, Lauren leads Sweep's product vision with a focus on making outdoor exploration more accessible, intuitive, and enjoyable for everyone. She believes technology should help people feel more connected to nature, not distracted from it. When she's not building Sweep, you'll usually find her hiking, camping, or planning her next outdoor adventure.
Katrina
Cofounder
Katrina grew up hiking and camping throughout the Pacific Northwest, where she developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and the role it plays in building healthier, more connected communities. She has spent her career helping early stage startups grow through thoughtful operations, strategic partnerships, and community focused products.
As Cofounder of Sweep, Katrina leads operations, partnerships, and growth, helping expand access to official park maps and creating tools that make it easier for more people to explore with confidence. Outside of work, you'll usually find her hiking a new trail, playing pickleball, traveling, or at the theatre.
Jerome
CTO
Jerome has spent his career designing and building the technology behind complex software platforms, with a focus on performance, reliability, and long term scalability. Before joining Sweep, he served as VP of Enterprise Technology at File & ServeXpress, where he led infrastructure, security, and product innovation for enterprise applications.
As CTO, Jerome architects the technology that powers Sweep, ensuring every map, GPS location, and offline experience is fast, dependable, and ready for wherever the trail leads. When he steps away from the keyboard, he enjoys hiking, perfecting Chinese recipes, and spending time with his cats.
